Song of Myself

I shout, I sing, I whisper, I cry, I laugh,
to go deeper into the mysteries of life.
I am like the endless rolling hills and green
fields,
I sing and dance to the beating drums of
Africa,
I race to the complex spirit of America,
All these cultures mixed to create one, me.
To lend a helping hand, to serve my whole life
through, to listen to the rustling leaves,
the voices of my friends.
Through all the hurt and pain that life may
bring,
I will be strong, I will prevail to the end.
I will live on, even after life has withdrawn
itself back to the dust from whince it
came.
